Description
Second edition of this famous history of "La Conquista". Second atlas ever of the Americas (2nd. Ed.). Herrera was the offical historian to the King of Spain, Philip II and III. As such, he wrote up the documents of the Conquistas and thus the early history of the Spanish in the New World. His writings begin in 1492 and cover a period of ten years. This most readable text was later copied, maps and all, by Theodore de Bry for his, "Grand Voyages". Herrera was translated in Latin (1622), and French (1660). A second Spanish edition was published in 1722, and that is what this is.
